We are at the beginning of our local election cycle. Last year was the federal election cycle where we elected representatives to the federal government. Now we deal with the election of representatives at the local level.
This may be the last local election we ever have! This is because we are about to hand over all local issues to bureaucrats in Washington. Once we do that, we will not get it back.

We learned from events during World War 2 that when one group is attacked, other groups are not far behind. An attack on Catholics will surely be followed by attacks on other religious groups. It behooves us to act on this action and letter in opposition to the attack. The letter follows:

I was reading an article saying we can win the abortion debate by claiming abortion is a states right issue.
I could not finish reading the full article before I felt compelled to comment on what I had read so far and had to yell NO! NO WAY!
The constitution protects people and an unborn baby is a human life form. It is not a dog nor cat nor a lump of flesh. It has its own unique DNA that he or she keeps until natural death which could be a hundred years later.
Why is this so hard to understand. You can not kill your servant. You can not kill your wife. You cannot kill your teen aged child. So why should you be able to kill your child at any age?
That Bible the founding fathers held so dearly said that the blood of righteous Able cried from the ground and God heard it. That is happening now with the blood of millions of innocent children killed before they go to see the light of day.
That is not a woman’s rights issue. It is not a states rights issue. It is a human rights issue. And those rights come from the Creator, just like our first official document states. Our country was founded on that document and submission to the rights granted to even the unborn child come from God himself and not the state whether Federal or any other governing body.
I think it is time to submit to the principles of our founding fathers and end abortion now.

Two major debates face conservative Republicans about the future of the party. The first, rekindled by Sen. Arlen Specter’s switch to the Democratic Party, is whether the GOP should move furtherfurther leftward. The second is whether conservatives should tone down their advocacy on social issues. History is on the side of outspoken conservatives in both debates.

Mother’s Day
The prayer the predates the Reformation, “Hail Mary”, is a composite of a number of Scriptures which can be confirmed directly from even the King James Version of the Bible.
“And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou [Mary] that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.” [Luke 1:28]
“And she [Elizabeth] spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou [Mary] among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb [Jesus]. And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?” [Luke 1:42,43]
This covers the first part of the Hail Mary prayer:
“Hail Mary full of Grace the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus.”

I regret to report that today the Republican State Central Committee has voted to remove Jeff Frederick as Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia. The meeting was conducted in closed executive session, but I have heard the deliberations were fair and civil. The vote was very close.

I make no apology for supporting Jeff Frederick as Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia (RPV). But now the RPV State Central Committee has removed him from being Chairman and the best I can ascertain is that it was done according to the rules of the RPV as specified in the official Party Plan.Perhaps the rules are wrong, but that is a debate for another day. I support the RPV and the now new leadership. I did not join the RPV because of Jeff becoming Chairman so I will not be leaving the Republican Party because Jeff is no longer Chairman.
I do, however, intend to find out just what Jeff did wrong and make sure I do not get caught in a similar situation.
(The official RPV “Party Plan” can be found online at www.rpv.org under “About RPV”.)

Fear reins and the fires are being fanned by President Obama. This is in sharp contrast to past President Franklin Roosevelt who said “there is nothing to fear but fear itself”. Bad news is taken by fiscal conservatives as a fund raising opportunity. They are thinking: “How do we get back in power?” But that message is not shared by social conservatives.

On the evening of 9-11, I got a phone call from someone from our church saying there would be a special service. We all turned to God in this time of trouble. But now with this “surprise” financial crisis, we seem to be turning to government instead of God.
